Deadline for comments on proposed changes to the Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulations (Sisson Mine)

The Sisson Partnership is proposing to develop an open pit tungsten and molybdenum mine located approximately 60 kilometers northwest of Fredericton, New Brunswick. It is expected that the mine will be in operation for an estimated 27 years.

In spring and fall 2018, nine consultation sessions took place about the proposed amendments which would allow the use of portions of two creeks for the disposal of mine tailings from the project. A summary of the comments received can be found here.

Following these consultations, the proposed amendments were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on February 16, 2019 for a 30-day comment period.
