Interested in working outside, growing/making delicious food in balance with the environment?

L’Hirondelle Farm could be the place for you to work and enjoy the 2019 growing season!

We are a mixed family farm running a market garden, CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box service, a cottage canning/preserve business as well as raising pastured poultry which includes egg layers and meat birds.

Each day’s tasks will be different with the changing season as we work and learn together as a team. Here are some of the regular tasks:

  • • Preparing garden beds for planting
  • • Seed starting, planting and transplanting into greenhouse and field
  • • Wild food foraging and berry picking
  • • Greenhouse production which includes tomato trellising and pruning
  • • Weeding and garden upkeep
  • • Harvesting, washing and preparing produce for farmer’s market
  • • Creating value added products from our home-grown produce through canning, preserving and dehydrating
  • • Helping in animal husbandry chores such as feeding, watering, moving coops and collecting eggs
  • • Preparing value added products for marketing

To help the farm run efficiently and effectively this season, we need a motivated and hard-working individual interested in sustainable agriculture, animal husbandry or food security.

We are looking to hire from mid-May to October - Start and end dates are flexible depending on your schedule. We would ask you to work a 40hr week, rate of pay is at least $13/hour but would be based on your experience

We are passionate about good food and helping to change the food system from the ground up. We are involved in food security/sovereignty and feel strongly about growing food that helps the earth, our customers and the local economy.
