The Green Roots Symposium: Community Action on Sustainability, Education & Partnerships 


Friday March 26 & Saturday March 27, 2010, Halifax, NS

Nova Scotia Environment, the NS Department of Education and the Sustainability Education in Nova Scotia for Everyone Working Group (SENSE) invite you to attend this exciting provincial gathering dedicated to sustainability in Nova Scotia, with a focus on education and partnerships.

Conference highlights:

• A pre-conference strategy session on moving Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) forward in NS (free session at the Waterfront Campus of the NS Community College). Agenda here.

• Respected Mi'kmaq Elder Albert Marshall will share the concept of Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) and how it can serve as a guiding principle for sustainability

• Keynote Luncheon with NS Environment Minister Stirling Belliveau 

• A plenary session on provincial priorities two days after the NS throne speech with the Deputy Minister of the NS Office of Policy and Priorities, Rick Williams 

• A moderated session on working with the provincial government

• Local food advocate and entrepreneur, Lil MacPherson as Master of Ceremonies

• A performance by the award-winning youth group Mindshift 
• A meet and greet reception that showcases successes and best practices from around the province 

The pre-conference workshop and outdoor campus tour will take place at the Waterfront Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College in Dartmouth. All other events will occur at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax. Please see the attached files for information on how to register for sessions and events.
